After a month or two at 50 mg of Iodoral daily plus the other recommended supplements, I began developing hyperthyroid symptoms while on my NP Thyroid medication – even though my TSH levels were still slightly elevated. 50 mg of Iodoral made all the difference for me. I then gradually increased to two pills, three pills, and then four 12,500 mg of Iodoral daily. I started taking one 12,500 mg of Iodoral daily. So I decided to increase my iodine dosage. My aim was to get my iodine levels above 90%. By this time, I had already been taking low-dose iodine supplements for over a year.

My full body iodine results were slightly deficient at 87% and my bromide levels were slightly elevated. Guy Abraham’s iodine test is the only accurate iodine test for full body iodine levels, and that can be easiliy done through Hakala Labs. I also had my iodine, bromide, chloride, and fluoride levels checked through Hakala Labs.

Brownstein’s book, I decided to purchase Iodoral (Lugol’s solution in pill form) as well as the other recommended supplements (selenium, cofactors B2, B3, magnesium, etc) which you need to prevent Hashimoto's from developing.

1000 mg per day was just not enough to overcome my hypothyroid condition. (My PCP was unwilling to prescribe thyroid meds for a TSH under 10 – despite my symptoms so I had to see an endocrinologist because I was suffering so.) In addition to taking NP Thyroid medication, I also started treating my hypothyroidism with 1000 mg of iodine a day as well as other supplements that support the thyroid - at the recommendation of my acupuncturist. At the recommendation of my endocrinologist, I started taking NP Thyroid medication in February 2018 when my TSH rose above 5. I am currently 56 years old and have maintained proper thyroid functioning now for the past 9 or so months thanks to Dr. Brownstein’s book, “Iodine: Why You Need It and Why You Can’t Live Without It” and cured my “subclinical” primary hypothyroidism.
